Mrs. Stella L. Wilkinson wife of Fred A. Wilkinson retired Crawfordsville restaurant owner died Saturday in Culver Hospital where she had been a patien since April 3. She had been in failing health for the past year and seriouly ill 3 weeks. A native of Montgomery County, Mrs. Wilkinson was born July 15, 1880 in Ripley Township. Her parents were Thomas and Frances Charters Lewellen. She married Fred A. Wilkinson at Yountsville Nov 27, 1901. Mrs. Wilkinson spent her childhood in the Alamo community, where she attended school. She was the oldest of a family of 10 children. Active in club work and business since coming to Crawfordsville, Mrs. Wilkinson was associated with her husband in the restaurant business from 1923-1948. She also was active in the work of the Pocahontas for a number of years. Surviving besides the husband, are 3 sons: Ernest Wilkinson of Lafayette; Ervie Wilkinson of Waynetown and Charles Wilkinson of Arizona; a daughter, Mrs. Carl Earl of Crawfordsville; 4 brothers, Walter Lewellen of Chicago; Archie Lewellen of Deer's Mill and Edward and Herbert Lewellen, twins, both of Waynetown; 3 sisters, Mrs. Bessie Ellis of New Castle; Mrs. Godey Graves of Newton Falls, Ohio and Mrs. Mabel Douglas of Crawfordsville; six grandchildren 10 great grandchildren and several other relatives. She was preceded in death by two sisters. Funearl services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Proffitt & Sons Funeral Home with burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery, Rev. John R. Servies will be officiating minister. Friends may call at the funeral home.
